Love the Loops: Commonplace Books
Located a block from the OKC Streetcar’s Dewey Avenue platform stop, Commonplace Books is the new gathering place for those who are inquisitive, introspective or otherwise intent on discovering a new book. Founded by a group of friends who wanted to create a different bookstore experience, Commonplace Books offers a selection of thoughtfully curated titles designed to help cultivate and share a lifelong relationship with books.
Your first step inside Commonplace Books feels like the return to an old friend’s home. Natural light fills the storefront, washing the space in warm rays of sunshine or protecting its inhabitants from a cool, misty autumn morning. The modern furniture complements the room, creating a pleasant space for discovering a new title and staying awhile. Walls of books surround you on simple shelves, thoughtfully arranged by categories like “Explorer,” “Activist” and “Intentionalist.”
If culture is the beating heart of a city, then Commonplace is the lifeblood. Through quintessential Oklahoma hospitality and an understanding of current and classic literature, their team strives to enrich lives, encourage imagination and guide intellectual growth.
Commonplace Books is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from Noon to 4 p.m. Hop on the OKC Streetcar’s Downtown Loop and head toward the Dewey Avenue platform. Then stroll east one block to Walker Avenue and north to NW 13th Street.
The OKC Streetcar is a proud community partner, transporting visitors and residents to the best that Oklahoma City has to offer, like Commonplace Books.
EMBARK and OKC Streetcar have partnered with our downtown neighbors to form the Love the Loops program, promoting neighborhoods and districts within the OKC Streetcar route.
