Love the Loops: Twisted Spike Brewery
Steps away from the hustle and bustle of Oklahoma City’s recently revived Automobile Alley is an oasis, known for its good beer and lively atmosphere. Just around the corner from the Art Park Streetcar platform, you’ll find Twisted Spike Brewing Company.
Established in 2016, Twisted Spike Brewing Company has become a staple in Oklahoma City’s “hopping” beer scene. Co-founders Bruce Sanchez – who had been homebrewing for 25 years – and his wife Donna decided that downtown Oklahoma City needed a destination for enjoying locally-crafted brews. In an old warehouse adjacent to passing train tracks and dating back to 1927, the duo began work on downtown’s first taproom.
While it is no longer downtown OKC’s only taproom, at more than 7,500 square feet, it remains the largest. Walking inside, you’ll immediately feel the energy, as exposed wood beams and acme brick walls reveal nearly 100 years of history.
The taproom boasts 24 taps, offering a wide selection for every beer lover in mind. From light and crisp to hoppy and complex, Bruce and the brewing team are always experimenting to discover that new gem or perfect an old favorite. Featuring full distribution, seasonal and taproom-only releases, some light research is encouraged!
In addition to more than two dozen quality brews, Twisted Spike offers a delicious Mexican-inspired menu to pair. Calico Joe’s at Twisted Spike serves up mouth-watering Mile High Nachos, Holy Guacamole and Chips and even Bavarian Pretzels and Pizza.
For those looking to host a party or get together, Twisted Spike has the space to host up to 60 people, offering catering and craft brewery experience packages. If you’re hosting a larger group than that, you have the option to rent out the entire taproom.
Twisted Spike Brewing Company is located at 1 NW 10th Street and open Monday through Thursday from 4-10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to midnight and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. Hop on the OKC Streetcar and make your way to the Art Park platform. Head south to the corner of Broadway and 10th Street, then turn east and walk toward the train tracks. Twisted Spike is located on the west side of the tracks.
The OKC Streetcar is a proud community partner, transporting visitors and residents to the best that Oklahoma City has to offer, like Twisted Spike Brewing Company in Automobile Alley.
